RW expo at Goldsmiths
July 3, 2008
Today at 6pm, the students on the MA Interactive Media at Goldsmiths hold our launch party for our end of year Expo entitled RW (re-write). Conceived as a market hall, I will be exhibiting a scaled-down version of Tantalum Memorial using one Strowger switch and connecting to the Nostalgie Ya Mboka database and playing some of the stories. The principle aim of my stall though is to talk people through the blog and explain the motivations behind Tantalum Exploration. Over the next few days i will upload some video and photos when i find the time to escape for a minute. The work of the other students can be found on the links page at the main site here.
Trottoire Success
July 1, 2008
Richard Wright has sent through some statistics this evening regarding the current version of Telephone Trottoire and they’re excellent.
So far, “we have recorded 344 comments so far and we have added over 600 new users. [Telephone Trottoire has] been running since May 5th and made 10,840 calls, 5,647 of which have been answered.1,424 scripts have been played and 229 calls passed!” As well as this, one of the recorded suggestions has itself been turned into a story to be passed round the network
This is all highly encouraging news showing the necessity for such a project to exist within a community that is highly reluctant to talk. Still 4 weeks to go…
Welcome
July 1, 2008
Welcome to the blog attachment for my Tantalum Exploration project. This is the home for any latest news and developments and also a space for loose theorisation inspired by the ongoing events. The ideas laid out then are more spontaneous and less considered than the material on the website.
